TUH in the community: Partnership with C2K Rugby Academy

We have partnered with C2K Rugby Academy for the 2021 season and beyond. The partnership, earmarked for a three-year period, will see TUH Health Fund as the official Program Partner for the C2K Rugby Academy program.

C2K Rugby Academy is a not-for-profit, free-of-charge program provided by current and former Super Rugby and International players and coaches, delivering position-specific coaching to elite level teenage players at their annual rugby clinics in Queensland.

Started in 2016, by former Reds Scrumhalf Brad Free providing positional coaching to young scrumhalves in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, the program evolved quickly to include all positions, with a group of over 50 former players giving their time at the 9-10 clinics conducted each year. Working with, and supported by both the QRU and Rugby Australia, the program now effectively supports the junior pathway in Australian Rugby from the age of 12 up until Academy level.

C2K Program Director, Scott Oakhill - “The C2K program exists to deliver position specific coaching to teenage, elite level rugby players that supports the already strong coaching they receive at their club or school. It also offers them insights that their coaches gained during long and illustrious careers as players/coaches. We also endeavour to teach them good training and physical preparation habits, to keep them healthy both inside and outside of Rugby. This is why we see great synergy in our partnership with TUH, whose charter and obvious educational links to our program participants, is vital in promoting good active health to young Australians.”

TUH’s Head of Marketing and Community, Serena Varendorff – “TUH loves what sport does to optimise young people’s mental and physical wellbeing and are in awe at the commitment made by our leading sportspeople to help young rugby players on their rugby journey no matter their background.  We are delighted to partner with C2K and look forward to connecting with the C2K family in 2021 and beyond.”
