Cancer Council Queensland and TUH Health Fund have jointly developed the Healthy Educators’ Program, which aims to advise Queensland educators on cancer prevention and healthy living through a series of educational workshops.
It is the first program of its kind specifically targeting the health and wellbeing of Queensland educators, and is designed to assist them in improving their health and the health of the school community.
These workshops have been created in response to evidence that healthy lifestyle behaviours can prevent at least one third of cancer cases, and reduce the risk of numerous other chronic diseases.
The workshops will cover:
- Physical activity
- Early detection & screening
- Sun protection
- Smoke-free environments
- Additional programs & resources
Through a series of educational workshops, this program helps educate our educators, and minimise harmful exposure to the Queensland sun. It also focuses more broadly on cancer prevention and healthy living – nurturing healthier, happier communities.
The workshops will be held across Queensland in 2017 and 2018.
