FAQs

A list of preferred providers can be found here.  We allow you to use any registered optometrist, dentist, physiotherapist or podiatrist in Australia. For other health care services such as chiropractic, massage, etc, benefits are paid for treatment by registered practitioners in private practice and recognised natural therapists approved by TUH.

An extras out-of-pocket cost is the difference between the amount a service provider charges and the benefit we pay. For example, if a physiotherapist charges $70 for a visit and we pay a benefit of $40, the out-of-pocket cost would be $30.

Visiting a preferred provider may reduce the out-of-pocket costs you are required to pay.

New memberships and upgrades of cover have waiting periods, including two months for all extras services (unless specified), six months for some services like Active Health Bonus and optical, twelve months for major dental and prostheses, and two years for laser eye surgery. Waiting periods can differ between levels of cover.
