During October we ran a competition in the lead-up to World Teachers' Day, which is celebrated in Queensland on 30 October, to help recognise, celebrate and thank our teachers for the important role they play in our communities.
We kept the concept simple as we know parents and teachers are flat out at this time of year. We invited people to visit our Facebook page and nominate their favourite teacher for a chance to win some special treats from us.
We were stoked at the number of nominations we received - it's pretty clear how much we all love our teachers and just how amazing they are! And, while not everyone could receive a prize, the biggest gift was the heartfelt messages of thanks that parents, students and fellow-teachers chose to share. Some of our favourites included:
Throughout the last week of October, four deserving winners each received a $50 eGift voucher from one of our Wellbeing Benefits partners. Congratulations to Bec Fitzgerald and Jacqui Shaw, both from Caboolture East State School, Amelia Aiken from St Augustine's College Augustine Heights, and Christine Nash from St Williams Grovely.
On October 30, we personally delivered the 'grand prize' of $200 worth of gifts, plus morning tea for the staff room to Claire Simpson, also from St Williams, Grovely.
Alona smith, our TUH Member Community Advisor was delighted to take delivery duty and surprise Claire with her prize.
"We love teachers here at TUH Health Fund and have loved spoiling some very deserving teachers this week in celebration of World Teachers' Day" said Alona. "Thanks to all the teachers out there - it's been a rough year, but you've helped us navigate through these challenging times. We hope you take a moment to enjoy and celebrate how wonderful you are."
Happy World Teachers' Day!
