FAQ's
Is my health insurance still great value during the COVID-19 crisis?
TUH has been a part of the education community family since 1972 and we stand right beside you through this current crisis. We are a proud not-for-profit fund and will always put members first.
Your TUH health insurance is a great decision for you and your family – now and every day!
Let’s answer some questions you may have.
2020 has tested all of us and we're committed to doing what we can to support members and their families during these tough times.
Unlike other major health funds like Medibank, BUPA and NIB who have announced they'll be increasing premiums for many of their members in October, we're standing beside our members by not increasing premiums this year.
If any member is experiencing significant financial hardship, we have a number of ways we can help. Call us on 1300 360 701.
There were some temporary restrictions on elective surgeries early in the crisis which caused some concern but many procedures have been re-introduced allowing our members a return to timely surgery, doctor of choice and continuity of care.
Private health insurance will continue to fund vital treatments and surgeries that hospitals are continuing to provide such as pregnancy, cancer, strokes, cardiac, fractures and wounds requiring surgery, chronic conditions (diabetes, kidney failure etc), appendicitis and in-patient mental health care (check your policy for your own cover inclusions).
Most allied health services such as dental, optical, physiotherapy, podiatry, audiology and massage among others, are still operating as normal.
Plus, the Australian Government has fast tracked support for a variety of other clinical and allied health services to move to telehealth delivery. TUH will be providing coverage of the items identified by the government and also offering approval of some additional services we see as key to the ongoing health and wellbeing of our members including dental, physiotherapy, psychology, exercise physiology, dietetics, lactation consultants, midwifery, podiatry, occupational therapy, speech pathology and more (policy, MBS and industry conditions apply). Click here for the full list of telehealth services.
We are focussed on maintaining your wellness during social isolation by partnering with a personal fitness equipment company to bring all members great home fitness products from Adidas Fitness, Summit Sport, Head Tennis and Arena Swimwear at exclusive TUH discount pricing. Click here to find out more. If you have extras cover – you may also be able to access face to face and telehealth support from exercise physiologists, physiotherapists and podiatrists.
TUH members are automatically enrolled in our Wellbeing Benefits program and can get brilliant discounts every day from our partners at Rydges Hotel and Resorts, FRANKIE4, Adrift Clothing, 99 Bikes, Edsco, Ruby Olive Accessories, Biome beauty, Woolworths, Coles, Priceline Pharmacy, The Good Guys and many more.
Our Fortitude Valley Health Hub has remained open, with all services available to TUH members and the general public. No need to postpone a dental emergency or neglect your aching back any longer.
The Hub is a nationally accredited health centre with strict infection control and hygiene, your continued good health is our priority. Call 1300 709 076 to book an appointment or book online for dental, optical, massage, physiotherapy, podiatry and audiology.
Stay well, stay safe and stay in touch. We are here if you need us via phone, website, member portal and smart phone app.
