At TUH, our focus goes beyond simply providing health insurance— as we work hard to ensure our members are truly looked after.

With the cost of living on the rise, we're here to help you get even more value from your extras cover. TUH members with combined hospital and extras cover (excluding basic extras), are rewarded with a bonus of up to $150 each year to spend on extras out-of-pocket costs.

Otherwise know as the Active Health Bonus*, this bonus is designed to reduce the amount you have left to pay on your favourite extras services, such as dental and optical. Just one of the many ways we’re supporting your journey to better health.

Understanding the TUH Active Health Bonus - More savings on your everyday services

The Active Health Bonus is an additional payment we make towards your out-of-pocket extras services on top of the benefits we already provide. You can use this bonus on any service covered by your extras policy, at any healthcare provider.

Love massages? Need new prescription glasses?  Thinking about that overdue dental care? The Active Health Bonus helps you stretch your extras cover further, so you can enjoy the services that matter most to you.

How to get your TUH Active Health Bonus

Getting your bonus is easy – simply complete your Health-e-Profile assessment through the TUH app or member portal. The Health-e-Profile assessment is an evidence-based health assessment that helps you spot risk factors that may lead to chronic health conditions while also helping us to support you in reaching your goals.

Here’s how via the app:

  1. Log in and go to the “More” section.

  2. Tap on your name below “Health-e-Profile" and follow the steps to complete the quick health assessment.

  3. In the member portal, the Health-e-Profile is located in the overview section.

How to use your Active Health Bonus

The Active Health Bonus is designed to be flexible because we know health and well-being needs are different for everyone. Whether you’re looking for preventative care or treating an existing condition, this bonus is here to help cover whatever extras matter most to you.

Here’s how it works:

  • Annual allowance: Your bonus is available per policy and resets each calendar year along with your extras limits, just don’t forget to do your Health-e-Profile.

  • Share the love: One member can use the full bonus, or it can be split across services for multiple members under your policy to use.

  • Seamless claiming: Claims are processed in the order received.

What to keep in mind:

  • You’ll need to complete the survey every 12 months to maintain your bonus. We’ll send you a friendly reminder when it’s time.

  • For new members, there’s a six-month waiting period before the bonus applies.

What’s not covered? 

While the bonus covers a wide range of extras services, there are some exclusions, including: 

  • PBS prescription co-payments

  • The gap between Medicare Benefits Schedule fees and doctor charges

  • Medical costs restricted by Fund Rules or legislation

  • Hospital excesses

  3. On-the-Spot: If your extras provider has a HICAPS terminal, just say “yes” when they ask if you’d like to claim your bonus
